Tooth Bonding What to Expect
The composite tooth bonding procedure is very similar to a resin dental filling. Dr. Hoffert will apply a biocompatible, tooth-colored composite material directly to the tooth and then sculpt it into the desired shape and form. The material may be self hardening or cured using a special light. Little or no preparation of the tooth is needed.
Dental bonding does not last as long as alternatives like veneers, inlays/onlays and dental crowns. With proper care and maintenance, you can expect tooth bonding to last five years or more.
Composite resin is not as resistant to stains from foods and beverages as compared to porcelain restorations. Avoid smoking or tobacco use and maintain regular visits to the dentist.
