I've been with this practice more than 20 years and am consistently pleased with everything from the professionalism and friendly nature of the staff to the efficiency and excellence of dental work from cleaning to root canals. Dr. Hoffert has, in my experience, an extensive and holistic understanding of the effect of other factors and medical conditions on oral health. Highly recommend. Robin JacobsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I chose Red Maple Dental based on their strong online reviews and convenient location, hoping to establish care with a smaller practice. From the initial phone call, I had some concerns but decided to proceed. As part of the new patient paperwork, I clearly indicated that I was not interested in orthodontics, noted that I am a former smoker, and mentioned some dental anxiety. During the visit, it was evident the dentist had reviewed my form, as she commented on my smoking history. However, the overall bedside manner was poor. The first question I was asked—despite my written response—was whether I was interested in braces, which felt like unnecessary upselling. The remainder of the visit relied heavily on alarming language. I was told my gum recession was significantly worse than expected, that I had oral disease, that my dental health was below average for my age, and that prior dental work I had received elsewhere was “poor dentistry.” Based on this assessment, I was advised to return for multiple additional visits, complete seven fillings, and undergo approximately $2,500 in treatment. Given my history of consistent dental care, good hygiene, and generally positive evaluations over many years, this assessment did not align with my experience. I sought a second opinion at another well-reviewed practice nearby. The second dentist’s evaluation was markedly different. I was told my oral health is above average, my gum condition is stable and consistent with prior evaluations, and my existing dental work is sound. The recommended treatment was one filling—not seven—and a conservative approach focused on monitoring areas of concern and preserving natural tooth structure whenever possible. The total treatment plan was over $2,200 less than what Red Maple Dental proposed. Additionally, I scheduled my visit at Red Maple Dental for a routine cleaning. I was charged $320 for the initial appointment but did not receive a cleaning, despite being told on the phone that it would be included. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this practice. I would strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before proceeding with any significant dental work. In my experience, the diagnostic approach felt driven more by revenue than by patient care. Tom BurchinalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am happy that I have found such a great dentist like Dr. Shawna Hoffert. I was referred to her by a dental specialist I was seeing. I asked him to recommend one of the best dentist in Asheville as I was looking for an Asheville dentist. He gave me two names. I called them both. The office staff with Red Maple Dental were so pleasant when I called, I decided to go with Dr. Hoffert. It was a great decision. She is a highly skilled dentist., and makes you feel very comfortable. Judi EflandTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I love how everyone is so friendly and welcoming. However I did not appreciate the dentist accidentally stabbing my mouth. I was unsure to leave a review because I didn’t think of it being a big deal but I thought others should know when the dentist is distracted they can miss and stab your mouth with a sharp tool and making it bleed while counting your teeth as they don’t need to stab my teeth while counting them either. Most of my visits have been great, but my last one made me have trust issues of going back again. Samara NugrahaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. All of the staff here are so friendly. Me and my sons come here. They are very accommodating to my hectic schedule. Front desk staff are so helpful. Overall great team. Highly recommend Virginia AttardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very nice visit. I was early but they were able to examine me promptly. This was an initial visit to Red Maple after two years of no dental care and they were extremely helpful and considerate in getting started with X-rays, etc. and planning my journey back to normal periodic care. Jerry EwingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The experience I've had under Dr Hoffert's care, along with her assistants and staff, has been the best! I could not have found a more welcoming and professional dental practice here in Asheville. Joe DeRenzoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
