Porcelain VeneersAn Overview
Dental veneers can be used to improve the beauty, health and function of your smile. Based on your needs and goals, Dr. Shawna Hoffert will use either porcelain veneers or tooth bonding to give you a whole new smile.
Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth like shells that cover the front and sides of the tooth. These delicate restorations are incredibly strong and allow Dr. Hoffert to provide conservative treatment with very natural looking results.
How much do porcelain veneers cost?
If you are considering veneers, you have several options. The cost of porcelain veneers will ultimately depend on the number of veneers, choice of material and condition of your teeth. Resin veneers (tooth bonding) are a less expensive alternative to porcelain veneers. Prior to treatment, Dr. Hoffert will present you with the various options and review the cost and treatment schedule to help you make the best decision.

Dr. Hoffert has been most helpful to my husband. Both in her "hands-on" work in the office and (very important) going out of her way making sure he got the proper pain meds on schedule once he was back home in Assisted Living. Gets an A+ from us.J.B. & D.B.

I have feared dentists for most of my life. Now I tell new residents where I live that I have never been hurt here. I am happy I can say this with Dr. Hoffert - It took courage, caring, and know how to do that. I am grateful!A.J.
Excellent Care! Dr. Hoffert was very kind, patient, and considerate during my visit. The Dental Assistant was as well. They did an excellent job with my crown and the shots did not hurt at all.H. D.
Porcelain Veneers What to Expect
It will typically take two or three visits to complete the porcelain veneer procedure.
The first visit will involve the tooth preparation. Dr. Hoffert will gently shape the teeth to prepare them for the veneers. Dr. Hoffert is careful to remove only a tiny amount of tooth structure to allow for the most secure and comfortable fit. Because of this step, porcelain veneers are considered an irreversible procedure.
The porcelain veneers will be fabricated in a dental laboratory. While they are being made, you will have temporary veneers to protect the teeth. In about 2 weeks, you will return for the delivery of the veneers. Dr. Hoffert will carefully bond them to the teeth for a virtually invisible restoration.
- Composite Resin Veneers
Composite resin veneers, or tooth bonding, is a type of restoration that requires little or no tooth preparation. Dr. Hoffert will use a biocompatible, tooth colored material to correct minor problems with symmetry, discoloration, or damage.
- Lumineers & “No-Prep” Veneers
Lumineers are a popular brand of dental veneer. The claim is that lumineers require no tooth preparation and are reversible. We offer similar options to Lumineers in our office. These no-prep or minimal prep alternatives have proven to be durable, comfortable and long lasting.
Alternatives to Porcelain Veneers
There several alternative treatments to porcelain veneers. Dr. Hoffert can help you choose which treatment is right for you. A dental crown may be used if your tooth has significant damage or decay. Tooth bonding is used for minor cosmetic issues or as a low cost alternative to porcelain veneers.
If you are considering Lumineers or a minimal prep solution, it is important to first consult with an experienced cosmetic dentist like Dr. Hoffert. Your teeth should be in relatively good condition with only minor concerns such as discoloration, surface blemishes and small spacing issues.
