Sedation DentistryAn Overview
Is fear of the dentist preventing you from getting the dental care you need? You are not alone.
It is estimated that 3 out of every 10 American adults avoid the dentist because of fear and anxiety. Avoiding the routine dental health exams can commonly lead to the development of a range of dental concerns. Preventative dentistry can be stressful, and Red Maple Dental understands.
Dr. Hoffert offers oral conscious sedation dentistry options to help you feel comfortable and relaxed in our Asheville dental office.
At Red Maple Dental, our patient’s safety is our top priority. Sedation Dentistry is only administered through close care and guidance to minimize side effects and ensure both your comfort and safety during treatment. It is important to let us know if you are currently taking any medications, either prescription or over the counter.
Dr. Hoffert will discuss sedation options prior to treatment. Our dental care team will help you choose the sedation option that will offer you your best results based on your overall health, dental concerns, and what treatment you are receiving.

Dr Hoffert and her staff are always curteous and helpful. I always feel welcomed and important at their office. When I had a cracked tooth Dr Hoffert was able to create a crown and place it the same day. I would recommend this office to anyone!Diana Hoffert

Sedation Dentistry What to Expect
IV Sedation Dentistry
Dr. Hoffert also offers the option of IV sedation should you desire to be fully sedated during a dental procedure. She received training and certification during her Air Force General Dentistry residency program and has over 10 years of experience administering IV sedation to patients.
Under IV sedation, you will remain conscious, but mostly likely have no memory of the treatment afterwards.
Oral Sedation Dentistry
Oral sedation dentistry is one of the most common techniques in the United States to treat dental phobia. Administered in the form of a pill, this technique will keep you completely relaxed and fully “awake”. Most patients who utilize this form of sedation dentistry have no memory of their procedure.
