Your First Dental Visit – What To Expect

Your first visit to our Asheville dental office will begin with a new patient exam and pre-clinical interview. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to tell us about your dental and medical history and discuss any concerns you have for your smile.

Our dental examinations typically include:

  • Dental exam and records
  • Digital dental x-rays (when needed)
  • Periodontal exam (check for gum disease)
  • Oral cancer screening
  • TMJ exam

If your smile is in relatively good health and you have no major dental concerns, we may be able to schedule you for a professional dental cleaning on your first visit. Consult with our office when making your appointment to get our recommendation.

New Dental Patient FAQs

What should I bring to my first dental appointment?
Please download our patient forms and bring them with you to your first visit. If you have dental insurance, please remember to bring that information as well. If you are seeking a second opinion or being referred by another dentist, contact our office to find out if we will need copies of your medical or dental records.

Do you accept dental insurance?
Many of our patients have dental insurance. While we do not participate in any dental insurance plans, we will submit your dental insurance on your behalf. A reimbursement check for your benefits will be sent directly to you from your dental insurance company. Learn more about our dental insurance policy.
